Divorce Beach (Playa del Divorcio) is the Pacific-facing beach behind Lover’s Beach at Land’s End. You reach it by walking through the gap in the rocks from Lover’s Beach, and the change is striking: a wide stretch of sand, big waves and open ocean. The name is a local joke about it being the stormy partner of Lover’s Beach. It’s a great place to look at the Pacific. It is not a place to swim.

Can you swim at Divorce Beach?
No. The surf, undertow and sudden surges on this Pacific beach are dangerous, and waves can run far up the sand. Stay well back from the wet sand line. In August 2026 the Los Cabos municipality temporarily closed Divorce Beach and access to the Arch, with a black flag, because of dangerous surf. If you want to swim, walk back to the Sea of Cortez side at Lover’s Beach.
How to get to Divorce Beach
Take a water taxi or glass-bottom boat from the Cabo San Lucas marina or Médano Beach to Lover’s Beach, then walk through the opening in the rocks to the Pacific side. There are no services of any kind, so bring everything you need.
Local tips before you go
- 1Don’t wade into the surf, even to your knees.
- 2Set your towel high up the beach, near the rocks.
- 3In whale season, bring binoculars: you’re looking straight out at the open Pacific.
Check the beach flag
Los Cabos beaches use colored flags: green means good conditions, yellow means caution, red means dangerous conditions and no swimming, and black means the beach is closed. Flags change with the weather, so look for them when you arrive.
