The beach sits inside the bay, so the water is usually calm enough for swimming and a bit of snorkeling. Boats pass close by on their way in and out of the marina, so stay near the shore and check the flag first.
El Corsario Beach is a small public beach on the far side of the Cabo San Lucas marina, right by the marina entrance and close to the cruise port. Locals also call it Playa Empacadora, after the old tuna cannery behind it. It’s a calm, easygoing place to swim while the boats come and go, and it holds Blue Flag certification.

Can you swim at El Corsario Beach?
Yes. The beach sits inside the bay, so the water is usually calm enough for swimming and a bit of snorkeling. Boats pass close by on their way in and out of the marina, so stay near the shore and check the flag first.
Playa El Corsario is on the Blue Flag list published by the Baja California Sur tourism department (SETUE). The municipal beach office (Zofemat) counted it among the Los Cabos beaches that renewed the certification in 2025, and the municipality keeps a lifeguard tower here.
How to get to El Corsario Beach
El Corsario is on the far side of the Cabo San Lucas marina, by the marina entrance, close to the cruise port and the naval base. Ask your taxi driver for Playa El Corsario or Playa Empacadora. A wooden ramp leads down onto the sand, and there are two shaded spots set up for wheelchair users.
Local tips before you go
- 1Swim near the shore; boats use the marina entrance right next to the beach.
- 2If you use a wheelchair, the ramp and shaded spots make this one of the easier beaches in Cabo.
- 3Check the flag at the lifeguard tower before you go in.
Check the beach flag
Los Cabos beaches use colored flags: green means good conditions, yellow means caution, red means dangerous conditions and no swimming, and black means the beach is closed. Flags change with the weather, so look for them when you arrive.
