Travelers in Saskatchewan get a direct way to the Baja sun this winter: WestJet will fly nonstop from Regina to Los Cabos once a week, starting December 14, 2026. The airline announced the route on July 20 as one of five new routes for its winter 2026/2027 schedule.
The flight lands at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), near San José del Cabo, the airport that serves the whole destination. According to the Gringo Gazette, the service will run on Mondays with 174-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, as a seasonal winter route.
Why Canada matters to Los Cabos
Canadians have become a bigger slice of the Los Cabos story. The Gringo Gazette reports that Canada grew from about 8 percent to 11 percent of the airport’s traffic between 2024 and mid-2026, and that more than 260,000 passengers traveled between Canada and Los Cabos in the first half of 2026. The same report counts 17 airlines and 50 routes at SJD, with 3.8 million passengers through June.
Francisco Villaseñor Reyes, director of Los Cabos International Airport, said in WestJet’s announcement that “a direct flight to Regina gives passengers more travel options and further strengthens our connection with Canada, one of our destination’s key markets.” Regina’s airport, for its part, called it a convenient nonstop option for the “long, cold, Saskatchewan winters,” which is hard to argue with.
