The San José del Cabo Art Walk is back for the season. Starting this Thursday, November 5, 2026, the galleries of the historic Gallery District stay open late every Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m., and the season runs until late June 2027. Walking the district is free, and nobody expects you to buy anything.
The Art Walk was started and is still organized by the Gallery District Association, a group of galleries that wanted to draw people away from the main square and into the colorful back streets behind the church. It worked so well that the town now closes Calle Obregón to cars on Thursday evenings, so the whole neighborhood turns into one long stroll.
What you’ll find
More than a dozen member galleries take part, and you can spot them by the bronze plaque outside the door. The mix goes from contemporary painting and sculpture to folk art, ceramics, jewelry and photography by Mexican and international artists. Names you’ll see include Patricia Mendoza Art Gallery, Frank Arnold Gallery, GalerÃa Corsica, Iván Guaderrama Art Gallery, GalerÃa de Ida Victoria and La SacristÃa. Some evenings bring an exhibition opening or an artist in attendance, so ask at the galleries you like.
If you’re eager, a few galleries didn’t wait for the official start. Frank Arnold Gallery kicked off its season on Thursday, October 29.

Tips for your Thursday
- Start at Plaza Mijares. The main square and the mission make easy landmarks, and the galleries fill the streets just behind them.
- Book dinner. Restaurants in the historic center get very busy on Art Walk night, so a reservation is a good idea.
- Park outside the center. With Obregón closed to traffic, one suggestion is to park on Calle Centenario near Morelos and walk in.
- Give it time. About two hours is enough for a first look, longer if you want to chat with the gallery owners and stay for dinner.
- Check holiday dates. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve both fall on a Thursday this season, and each gallery decides whether it opens.
