What to do Los Cabos, Mexico

La Paz activities, Baja California, Mexico

Exceptional Sportfishing
This area is famous for exceptional sport fishing.  Different species abound in every season of the year, including marlin, jack, red snapper, grouper, tuna, dorado, wahoo, sailfish and roosterfish.

Whether you prefer traditional lure fishing, salt-water fly-fishing or light-tackle fishing, you are sure to find what you’re after.  Reasonably-priced charters of a variety of different craft are available, including sportfishers, cruisers and lightweight “pangas”.

Fishing enthusiasts set out from several different marinas, all with splendid facilities.  La Paz Marina has dockage for 85 vessels, while Palmira Marina provides dockage for 206 craft.  Both offer dock services, and are surrounded by restaurants and a variety of different shops and businesses including fishing, kayaking and diving outfitters.

Eco Tourism
Nestled in the most sheltered part of the beautiful bay, La Paz has an enviable location that makes it the perfect place to set off on different eco-tourism excursions including hiking trips, plant and wildlife observation, camping or mountain biking.

The surrounding desert is an ecosystem filled with countless surprises.  The native flora and fauna have developed unique characteristics due to their relative isolation from the continent.  This is a valley of cacti like the giant cardons, primitive cirios or boojums and spiny chollas.  It is also the habitat of migratory and resident birds including falcons, roadrunners, hummingbirds and wrens.  Bighorn sheep, foxes, coyotes and pumas also live in the region.

As you climb the sierras that surround La Paz, the scenery undergoes a radical transformation, crisscrossed by numerous creeks of crystal-clear water. There are several different operators who can guide you into the sierras on trips of varying duration and cost.
